The Operator's AI Brief
Five Questions To Ask Before You Trust An AI Tool
Every AI product is a model inside a vendor's harness. Five questions show you what that harness lets the tool do.

No launch this week deserves your money, but one idea from a video does. Every AI product pitched to a small business is a model inside a vendor’s setup, and the setup decides whether the tool helps you or burns you.
The setup around the model
On October 7, creator Nick Saraev posted a video titled “AI Harnesses In 24 Minutes (For Normal People)”. I am working from the title and description only. The description uses Claude Code and Codex as examples and lists the pieces around a model: context, memory, tools, verification, permissions, and sandboxes. It describes the bare model as an autocomplete engine.
My reading: the model is the part every vendor shares. The harness around it differs, and that is where you should press. Ask five questions:
- What does it know about my business, and where did it learn it?
- What does it remember between calls?
- What can it do: send a text, change a price, book a job?
- Who checks its work before a customer sees it?
- What is it not allowed to touch?
The last one carries the most weight. A phone agent that books appointments should have no way to refund a payment. A vendor who can’t answer in plain words has still told you something.
A cold outreach video
On October 8, Ben AI posted “How I Use Claude to Get Unlimited Leads (for Cold Outreach)”. The chapter list shows a skill creator for outreach, three skills built, and four setup steps. I have not watched the full video, so I can’t say what it recommends.
My view: a list of names gets you a reply at best. It does not answer the phone when a customer calls back at 6 in the evening. If outreach works, someone has to pick up.
Both videos point at the same habit. Find out what a tool does after you say yes.
